About

Image result for Southern Pacific logoThere have been many changes since this blog first launched back in 2010. All of which are discussed in older blog posts.
What may be the most significant is the change of prototype. After happily modeling the Wabash for many years, I've decided to make a radical change and focus on a Southern Pacific branchline in California.
The Clovis branch was a fascinating branchline that ran from Fresno to Friant. Serving many produce packing houses and wineries, a quarry for OCS ballast, and the usual branchline traffic.
Once the layout is running, I'll have the option of running solo with an off season way freight, or ramp things up using up to 4 crewmen and replicate the harvest time rushes of reefer traffic that require expedited service.
Follow along as I share the progress of this layout.

My name is Pierre Oliver. I have built hundreds of rolling stock kits from many manufacturers - in HO, S and O scales - for clients in North America and around the world. I have done test-builds for manufacturers and have reviewed rolling stock kits for Railroad Model Craftsman magazine. And I can get your rolling stock kits out of their boxes and onto your layout, so you can focus on the many other things creating a rewarding model railroad demands. If you're interested in working with me on your next model building project, please visit my Elgin Car Shops web site. I look forward to helping you achieve the rolling stock variety that will bring your layout to life.

Thank you for visiting!
